Constipation and Haemorrhoids can cause:

bleeding when passing stools

an itchy feeling around the anus
-
pain
Haemorrhoids can vary in size from large to small and can occur inside the anus or outside the anus. Constipation and Haemorrhoids are not usually very serious and can be successfully treated with over-the-counter medicines and a high-fibre diet.
For severe cases of haemorrhoids post delivery of your baby a number of surgical procedures can be used to treat or remove the haemorrhoids.
Medical drugs used.

A soothing cream, ointment, or suppository may help to ease your discomfort. There are different brands available without a prescription but I would advise you to ask your LMC caregiver who may be able to give you a prescription or ask the pharmacist for advise. Follow the instructions on the packet on how to use.

Some medical creams contain an anaesthetic which may ease pain better. You should only use one of these for short periods at a time (5-7 days). If you use it for longer, the anaesthetic may irritate or sensitise the skin around the anus. A pharmacist can advise.

Some creams contain a steroid which may be advised if there is a lot of inflammation around the haemorrhoids. Steroids reduce inflammation and may help to reduce any swelling around a haemorrhoid. This can often help to ease itchiness and pain. You should not normally use a steroid cream or ointment for longer than one week at a time.
Note;
If you need to use medical drugs often this can be a short term response. Once the problem is under control then move onto the more natural methods.
