It used to be traditional in parts of old Europe to hand the Bernstein necklace from one generation to the other just as it was traditional to do so with the Christening gown. The Amber beads have been round polished and are threaded onto a silk thread, the necklace is then closed with a childproof gold-plated clasp.

For the hygiene of your infant the necklace must be removed and cleaned once a week. Simply use a soft cloth to gently wipe each bead clean. When the amber is dull rinse the necklace in clean spring water (no detergents, chlorine etc) and leave in the sunlight to dry.

The manufacturer of our natural Bernstein necklace gives a guarantee on the silk threading and gold-plated clasp. But the guarantee will only cover necklaces that have been looked after. If the necklace has not been cleaned or it has been washed in detergents and the Amber has to be polished again the guarantee will not cover it.
