Martien's Philosophy
I am passionate about helping babies have the best start in life.
Early osteopathic intervention for both baby and mum can be so helpful in smoothing the road forward and helping the baby’s development and growth.
For example: breast feeding problems, colic, reflux, physical discomfort / restriction, post-natal blues and more.
This is why I am encouraging people to come as soon as possible after they have given birth. Don't feel you have to rush here but make one of your first trips out of the house to the osteopath.
NB: If you are having trouble with breastfeeding please come as soon as you can, osteopathic treatment in the first weeks may help establish effective feeding.
If the mum or baby are requiring medical intervention osteopathy may be able to assist also. Our aim to is to help the body be as healthy as possible and achieve optimum function.
Benefits of Osteopathy for a woman during pregnancy:
  • Preparing for the demands of labour physically and emotionally.
  • Easing some of the physical discomforts of pregnancy.
  • Positioning of the baby in your pelvis.
  • Helping threatened miscarriage.
  • Helping the Mother recover after birth physically and emotionally.
  • Bonding and connecting with your baby.
  • Breastfeeding and preventing breast infections known as 'mastitis'.
  • Pelvic floor issues.

For the baby:

  • Feeding problems.
  • Sickness, colic, wind, reflux,
  • Constipation or gut issues with tightness.
  • Sleep disturbances.
